National Night Out in Council District 11
Each year our district communities host National Night Out, a special event that helps to strengthen neighborhood unity. Hundreds gather for festive and family-friendly gatherings that promote police-community partnerships.
CD11 Foundation is proud to support our very important public safety partners on the Westside, the women and men of our Los Angeles Police Department.
Brentwood
Community Scouting Program Troop 223
The CD11 Foundation is proud to support Brentwood’s efforts to be a good neighbor to the Palisades community in the wake of the recent fire. To help maintain continuity for local families, the Foundation has underwritten meeting space for Cub Scout Pack 223 at Brentwood Presbyterian Church while they await the reopening of their regular site at St. Matthew’s, which was damaged in the fire. We are thrilled to help provide stability for the children in this important after-school endeavor, offering a sense of normalcy during a challenging time.
Brentwood Science Magnet
Foundation has underwritten weekend openings at Brentwood Science Magnet School, allowing the campus to serve as a temporary community park on Sundays and select Saturdays while Palisades Park undergoes renovation and restoration. With Palisades Elementary also using the campus for classes, these open weekends offer families and neighbors a much-needed space to gather, play, and reconnect.
Bonner Bench Restoration on Brentwood Median
The Bonner Bench stood as one of Brentwood’s cherished tributes to the community’s past. It was donated by Esther Bonner to commemorate the beloved elementary school she founded for her own children on San Vicente Boulevard in 1939. She continued to run the school until 1984 and gifted the bench to our City in 1985. As indicated by the inset plaque, educating young people and teaching citizenship was her passion. After gracing the San Vicente Boulevard median for 42 years, it’s heartbreaking that the bench upholding good citizenship was smashed by vandals in 2024.
Annual Brentwood Veterans Resource Fair
Hundreds of veterans get help with groceries, transportation, and other benefits through the annual Brentwood Veterans Resource Fair. CD11 Foundation is pleased to participate in helping to provide access to VA HUD-VASH housing and outreach staff assistance, free grocery store gift cards and Metro TAP cards, nonperishable foods and living essentials, job information and opportunities, CalFresh sign-up help, legal clinics, and more.

Pacific Palisades Fire Recovery
Growing Back Stronger- Tree Care in the Palisades
Our work in the Palisades continues. Since October, the CD11 Foundation has been supporting the weekly watering of City trees in the Palisades burn area to help preserve those that remain alive and viable following the fire. By ensuring these trees receive consistent care, we are helping protect the neighborhood’s green canopy and support long-term recovery and resilience in the community.

On Saturday, September 27, the CD11 Foundation was proud to partner with Palisades Beautiful to help fund the Swarthmore tree replanting in front of and around CVS in the Palisades. This project replaced burned stumps from the fires with nine new trees, restoring a vital area of the community that is already open for business and frequently visited by residents.
First Responder Meals, Supplies, and Equipment
As days of tireless emergency relief work went on, our first responders and other city workers on the front lines needed food and supplies. CD11 Foundation delivered meals to fire stations and other sites where recovery efforts were underway. We also helped with supplies and equipment for managing tasks like redistributing pallets of donated goods to where they were most needed.
Target Gift Cards for Urgent Needs
In the immediate aftermath of the fire, we heard of people leaving home so quickly they forgot things like charging cords and reading glasses. So we purchased emergency-supply gift cards from Target to pass out to any Palisades resident in need.
